Hi Everyone,

I have a new WinSDR release ready. I have NOT updated the beta release web
page with information on the new release since this is a interim release. I
am right in the middle of adding a new display window to WinSDR. It's
functional, but still needs some work... I'm making this release available
so users who are using the client/server feature can download the channel
ini files.

You can download the new winsdr.exe file using these links:

ftp://www.seismicnet.com/software/ws208b5.zip
or
http://www.seismicnet.com/software/ws208b5.zip

To request a set of channel ini files from the remote system use the File /
Get Remote Channel Information menu items. This menu item will only be
enabled if you are in the TCP/IP client mode. If you have the Log File
viewer window open you will see the progress of retrieving each ini file
from the server.

Here's some information on the new single line display window. Currently
this window displays one channel in a horizontally scrolling display. The
Display Settings dialog box is used to control most of the display settings.
This dialog box is opened using the Options / Display menu items or using
the mouse by right clicking in the window. The new display options and menu
items are all pretty straight forward so I won't go through each one.

There is one outstanding problem with this new window. Sometimes when you
resize the window, WinSDR starts to take up more CPU usage then normal. It
doesn't use up all of the CPU, it's just that the system pause each time the
window is updated. Most of the time the problem will go away if you resize
the window again. This happens both on my laptop and my development system,
both are running Win2K. I do not know if this problem will show up on other
versions of Windows. Again, if your system seems slow after resizing the new
window, just resize it a little bit again and it should go away. I have no
idea what is causing this problem...

As I said, the new window needs some more work, besides finding and fixing
the problem above, before it's completed. What I need to add is the ability
to get old data off of the disk and data in memory to refresh the display.
Right now it only displays the incoming data. I also want to add the ability
to zoom into an area like WinQuake and also save event files. And right now
the Y-Scale is only in A/D counts. Besides A/D counts it needs to display
volts and sensor units like cm / sec, etc.

That's it for now.

Regards,
Larry
